Lots Of Figure Drawings!

Here are a bunch of figure drawings that I have done in the last 4 months. Some of these are 20/25 minute demos that I did in class. The drawings here range from 20 minutes to 3 hours. I felt like I had lost something in my drawings, its hard to explain, but my drawings have been getting too up tight. Slowly, what I have been looking for is starting to come back.

New Portrait Drawing

New portrait drawing that I finished the other day of Jessica. This drawing was a bit of a struggle, I actually had to start the whole thing over on a new piece of paper, which is pretty rare for me. When I do a drawing of someone I know and I want to to look just like them, I spend a lot of time trying to get the likeness as perfect as possible, and I wasn't sure if I had the likeness. I think the reason why I was unsure, is that she is a friend of a friend, so I am not as accustomed to her face as someone I would see more often. At the end of the day though, everyone knew who it was, most importantly her. With likeness aside, I have to say this may be my best portrait yet, as soon as I was done with it I wanted to frame it. I was trying to play around with edges more and not be so literal, I know I can push it a lot further still. Also if you haven't noticed, I like to design hair, its tough, but fun.

Portrait Drawings

Here are 2 portrait drawings I did of my friends Ginny and Amanda. This was the first time I tried to do a real photo shoot, now that I have a "real" camera. Many of the photos came out blurry, still have a lot to learn about my camera. These drawings were done in graphite. The profile drawing took around 10-15 hours and the other took about 20-25 hours. Drawing smiles are not easy... I will try to post some recent life drawings soon.

Wonder Woman Chobot!

Well here is a new Jessica Chobot drawing I just finished. Back in July at San Diego Comic Con, Jessica Chobot, Sara Underwood and Candace Bailey were all doing a signing for G4TV. I did not realize the 3 of them would be there, I had my drawings of Sara and Candace with me. I showed them my drawings and they loved them, but felt bad I didn't have one of Jessica Chobot, being that she was the reason I did any of these drawings in the first place. I did a drawing of her as Commander Sheppard from Mass Effect awhile back, she retweeted it. Thus I started art work of people on twitter and getting them to retweet my art. Still haven't had any luck of getting Ochocinco to retweet the painting I did of him... I did get Candace to sign my drawing at Comic Con, so I hope this year I will be able to get Chobot to sign this drawing!

More Remetee Shirt Designs

I haven't updated my blog much at all, and I usually update it with figure drawings, so I thought I would post some shirt designs I did awhile back for Remetee. Some of these are several years old. I really miss drawing on the black paper, I may have to give it a shot again sometime soon.

Figure Drawings And A Skull

Some figure drawings I did at Friday workshop at Watts Atelier. I got to say that the last several drawings I did there I am really proud of, especially since I went through a phase of a couple really bad ones. I also bought a new camera recently, a Lumix G3, been years since I had a real camera again, and its been fun trying to figure it out. I am quite happy with the way it shot these drawings.

Well it has been way too long since I have posted anything last. Here are some figure drawings that I have done over the last few months. I have done plenty more but these are the ones I am happy with.

Candace Bailey

Drawing I did of Candace Bailey, co-host to Kevin Pereira on Attack of the Show. One thing I need to say about this drawing. Drawing smiles is very difficult. I spent a lot of time on getting her smile just right, hell it probably could be better still. To help me out on this matter though, I referenced the great pinup artist Gil Elvgren. He is a master at painting beautiful women. There is a lot you can learn from by looking at his work.

Portrait Drawings

2 portrait drawings I have done in the last few weeks during Friday Workshop at Watt's Atelier. So far this semester I have been real happy with what I have been doing and hoping it continues!

Stone Cold!

I used to watch WWE all the time. Of course when I used to watch it, it was call the WWF. I first watched during the Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Roddy Piper, etc era, which was a great time. I stopped watching WWF for sometime, then got back into watching it in the late 90s during high school. This was the era of Stone Cold and The Rock. Stone Cold was one of my favorite wrestlers as he was a fan favorite of everyone else as well. I have plenty of fond memories of watching WWF with my friends all gathered in Bill's basement.

2 figure drawings from last semesterat Watts Atelier. I really wish I had an extra hour to finish up the first one.

Remetee Skull Designs

For almost 2 years I was creating t-shirt designs for Remetee. Here are just a few that I did. It was a lot of fun being able to do this, definitely something I never thought I would do at all in my life. I really enjoy drawing skulls and working with my Art Director Brett really helped me push my abilities. The other real cool part was that I got to create them traditionally. Most of them are done in pencil. Maybe did one or 2 in charcoal and in oil paint. I also did a bunch in ink.

Bustice!

Drawing I did of Sara Underwood as her character Bustice from Attack of the Show. I have been watching AOTS for maybe 5 months or so and I got to say its rather entertaining, I got hooked right away. Drawing is done in graphite on Bristol paper.

Zoo Sketches

Haven't done much sketching at the zoo lately, but here are some sketches I did about a month or so ago. Hopefully I will get back into going to the zoo and sketching, its always a lot of fun.

4 more figure drawings from that I have done within the last 3 weeks at Watts Atelier. I have been really happy with the ways these have been turning out. The only thing is that I wish I had more time to spend on them so they could be finished up.
